PS Belt, No GO

I cannot seem to get my PS Belt to fit. I have the actual pump slide down all the way but I still need about an inch and a half. Any suggestions?

Gert big wrench on pump nut ol' son!

Some one here will know what the belt length should be so you can check you got the right one.

This may sound stupid, but I've made the mistake of mixing up the belts and trying to fit a a/c belt to the waterpump, etc.. Try another belt.

the belt should fit easily if it's the right size, and you have the adjuster all the way loose.
make sure they sold you the right size belt. the one for sale here on this site show 13mm x 1145 length.

The belt doesn't go on the steering wheel, it goes on the power steering pump.

Hahaha. I guess that's why it didn't fit.

It has been a long day.
I will check it in the morning now that I have the size. Thanks

I will bet that you could. And I will make a much larger bet that it won't help a bit. Finding the correct belt might be a more productive endeavor.

Wrap the belt around the power steering pump, then half way around the crank in a clockwise motion until you run out of slack. Then jump the motor by touching the contacts on the passenger side terminals (the big screw on the end and the little screw on the other end) and it'll pull the belt right onto the crank pulley. Easy cheesy.

sure that would work, but if it's this hard to put on, the belt is the wrong size.
really, the PS belt is super easy to put on. plenty of slack.
nothing like the alternator or a/c belts...

Jumping the belt onto the pulley...

If your belt is so tight it must be forced on, chances are your tension will too high and this will lead to bearing failure on the driven component.
