115 Amp Alternator

First, my new alt (reman from McParts) does not begin to charge my 300D turbo. Second, especially when I have the vegtherm on. So, since I already bought said 55 amp alternator, I want to replace it with the 115 amp variety as explained elswhere (AL129x). However, I can only get an exchange from the store, so I found part #14939 Worldwide 115 Amp alt. Only thing is these are larger than my original (roughly 6" as compared to 5 3/8" diameter and a larger distance between the center of both pivot bolts). It seems that this alt is a replacement for the AL129x, so I think it should work, but will it fit?

Answers would be helpful.

THX

My only question is if it is bigger, either it will not swing back all the way to make the belts tight, or it will be very hard to get the belts on, but once on they will be tight.

in the W116 there was no problems... i don't know if the brackets are the same and i do believe that some people on the forum have done the swap on the 300D's and have been happy... one guy who was banned, BHD, did it on his i think... i you search you can prolly find it.

to search use the advanced google search of this site it is better

the only thing is that you may need to clock the back of the alt to clear AC lines if you have AC still.

early 90's saab turbo FWD's.....

So you (mobetta) have done this switch? If so, with what exact alt?
