Junk yard disappointment

I found a euro W126 in the junkyard today. It had 3 15" BBS wheels, but the fourth was missing. Somebody probably took the fourth off and let it roll into the aisle and the yard crew hauled it off. Damn shame

Sorry to hear that.

I went to the junk yard today and scored a primer pump for my 240 and a rear bumper in perfect condition. That went on the 300D today. Tomorrow the 300D bumper (good but missing the rubber trim) is going on the 240D, whose original bumper is rusted to h---.

I also have to install the window motor and regulator that I scored last Saturday.

The guys that run the local yards tell me that people will see a car with a nice set of wheels and take one, hide it in a car or van elsewhere in the yard so that nobody buys the set. Look around, might be there somewhere.

The spare was a standard steel wheel.

I looked in and under the cars in the general area but could not find it. The workers said that they haul off all of the loose wheels every once in awhile.

that's odd, all of my W123s have aluminum bumpers.

Sometimes they'll use the wheels to support a car up so they can yank an engine or trans, look at other vehicles nearby that are propped up.

In other news, I scored yesterday on a 91 300E 2.6 that had the trunk filler panel and the 5 remaining wide lower body panels I needed for my 87 300D $38!

We ought to start a moving thread of sorts for parts folks are looking for.....I'm headed to the junkyard today with a shopping list for a few of you who are looking for things. If I find them, I'll probably take some pics and report back that they are available.

Has anyone ever bought an entire parts car from a junkyard? I'm thinking about it.

Is it a diesel? Which yard? I'm looking for some injector hard lines to make up a pop tester, but struck out at the local lots. Or... just pull them while you're there and sell them to me

I asked once, a friend needed pretty much a complete whole interior for a 190 so I asked about the one I saw at the local Crazy Ray's.... response was $800.

GET REAL!

the car is still there with broken out windows now and a once perfect but now soggy interior.

...and who the hell is taking the oil caps off the engines and leaving the hoods open? so many ruined motors now.

Okay, I'm know cherry, tiger oak, maple, mahogeny, etc --- but not up on wood trim flavors in a MB. Can someone post a decent pic of burlwood and zebrano so I can tell the difference?

Charlie --- I found the attached pic in an w126 SEL today. The console was torn apart, but I thought someone might be missing some wood pieces. I have 13 little wood pieces; it looks like there are suppose to be more --- I could go back and search for the missing ones.

Charlie --- If this is the correct wood, would the driver's side work? I was thinking maybe the wood is just flipped upside down....????

Charlie -- if this is Burlwood that I posted, I believe there was an ashtry thrown in the backseat.

Charlie --- What color of sun visor clips do you need?

Jim --- I can get some bulb sockets for you. Do you need the whole bulb tray?

easy way to tell the difference- zebrano looks like a bunch of "lines" while burlwood is "curly"

your wood pieces are from the center console roll box lid- dunno if they're worth anything apart like that.
