Door lock problem 81 300D
 

Drivers door will not lock with or without key. The key will not turn to the right nor can you push down the knob. I took the handle off the car and it turns fine with the key so it`s not the lock that`s froze it must be in the mechanism. Anyone dealt with this before? It`s turning into a can of worms I think I`m going to have to remove the track for the window to get it out of there. Thank`s Rick

Have you taken the inside door panel off? You can get to the mechanism without messing with the window track. You might need to lubricate some of the linkages.

Can you lock the door when the door is closed? My drivers door will only lock when it is closed. I have to get out, close the door and then lock it from the inside through the rear door (or use the key). The lock won't budge when the door is open.

yes the door will lock from the inside when it`s shut. so that`s a good thing. I`ll have to check it out somemore tommorrow and see why it won`t lock with the key, when with the handle off the door the key turns fine either way.
