On both my car and my truck, the crank case vent goes right to the turbo inlet, stock. It SHOULD have a condenser/vapor separator but the only ones I've seen were fitted by the owners.

As for the wiring, I think people either don't know how to wire properly, the project is in a prototype stage or they get sick of the project and the wiring becomes an after thought. I've seen mechanically brilliant swaps with horrible wiring but I've never seen brilliant wiring on a poorly executed swap.

The 616/617 is supposed to have a oil separator, either in the air cleaner of separately.

Only on the 81+ turbo engines and late 81-83 616's. All NA 617's, 78-80 617a's and pre early 81 616's don't use one.

Did they just dump the vent into the intake with no separator? It seems like that would use quite a bit of oil.

Yes, all pre-81 4-bangers, all 617na's and all pre-81 617a's just had a tube from the CCV to the intake.

Thank you both for posting the pics. I had seen neither before. Nice work and keep it up!

A great source for easy wiring is Painless Wiring. They make universal wiring harness kits that are quite easy to work with and very complete. For a Domestic build its a no brainer.

I'm guessing the 4.11's are going to be a bit steep with the 617! No wonder you spin the tires. I am guessing you will end up with 3.23's or so. Maybe taller, that F100 is probably lighter than the SD donor car.

Actually I was speaking of the 4:11s in the 66 chevy that was posted. My truck is running 3.27s with 275/60R15s, should work out to be about the same as the 205/70R14s and 3:08 gears in the 300SD, maybe a little taller. The 53 F100 should weigh in at almost 1K under the total weight of the 300SD.

YOu think that truck will weigh under 2800 #?

That would be cool.
