Wrecked the 300D Today

I think that there should be drivers licenese tests for people over the age of 70, seriously. An elderly man pulled right out in from of me today in front of Wal-Mart. I slammed brakes, honked the horn and b/c of the wet, slick roads I bumped the side of his passenger door.

It worked his door over pretty good and all it did was bust my right blinker light.

THESE CARS ARE TANKS

If all you did was burst your right blinker....that's NOT a wreck to a w123.

Seriously, though, I do hope you and the elder gentleman are okay.

They might as well kill me when I'm too old and the keys are taken away.

Older drivers are still safer than teen drivers. Most old fart accidents are at low speeds.

The joke is that everyone should take up ski-diving when they are 70, if they forget to open the chute, that takes care of the problem. Don't yell at me, it's not my joke. i heard it in a play.

Yeah we were both fine. I hit him at around 10-15.
You are right daw. Teen drivers are without a doubt much more dangerous than older drivers. But I still think there should be a mandatory drivers test at around 70.

I think some states or countries do require re-licensing tests. I think my father-in-law had to take one in Ontario.
Glad the car is ok. You too.

Texas:
My dad had to take one this year when he turned 87. He drives 90 miles round trip every other day to spend the day with mother at the nursing home - she's 91 (no license!)

I loathe old drivers. There's tons of them around here.

On the freeway yesterday we were going through a 1 lane construction zone....I was stuck behind an impala, which (in the 60mph contruction zone) was varying between 38 and 52mph (constantly)....and when we'd come to areas where they shift the lanes a bit (such as a bridge), she'd drop down to about 35!!! She was actively applying the brakes to do this!!! I came up behind her a couple times and honked, and all she did when I did that was SLOW DOWN MORE. It went on like this for ELEVEN MILES. By the end of the zone there must have been 100 cars backed up behind us! I figured she was some ancient person, so as I roared past her, I looked, and she couldn't have been over 50!!! Plus, she had three old people in the car with her. Amazing.

I think we have about 4-5 old-people-driving-through-a-house/restaurant/farmers-market incidents around here per year. Last year a person eating in a diner was killed when a 90 year old guy confused the pedals and plowed his Lincoln Town Car right into the building. Another old guy (80 something) plowed through a produce market near here for the same reason.

Old people need to be re-tested.

My sainted mother is 86 and buzzes around in an '07 Altima. We call it her roller skate and she handles it well.
Some old folks may putt around a little, but you rarely see them bragging about driving their car at 115-120! Not so from the kiddies on here. And for every older person that confuses the brake and accelerator there is probably 5 kids who saw their car in half driving like an idiot.....
I'm just sayin'..............

Funny you should say that....because when I broke free from behind that impala I let-a-rip and flew down the completely empty freeway at top speed for a while. Young people are predictable. Oh well. In my defense, its fun to drive at 114mph. I belong in Germany......

Oh, and later on on that same drive I saw a weird looking lady (I actually said "yikes" out loud) when I saw her, she looked like Mimi on The Drew Carey Show.... driving down the freeway in a brown, very nice condition 220D!!! She was going EIGHTY TWO miles per hour.....in a 220D!! She must have been running it flat out! The smoke blasting out the back confirmed that.
