Is the Central Locking System the same on a 126 comparted to 123? Can a 123 manual be used to trouble shoot the central locking system on a 126 or is there too many differances between the 2.

No. 126 has a separate electric vacuum pump for the doors.

and, it operates with a single line to each door lock actuator. The pump reverses and uses pressure to unlock the doors, but draws vacuum to close them. Its a pretty neat (and simpler) system. And up until late 1983, the drivers door lock was just an electric switch for the system. Later on they added a switch to the trunk lock and a vac line to the drivers door. (so you could unlock the entire car from the trunk as well)
Its a very reliable system, mine has always worked fine except when one actuator got leaky....swapped it out, and all was well again. Same for my dad's car....ironically, both cars had a leaky front passenger side actuator. |

You can try a W124 manual, they will be similar to the W126. Jim |
