Don't just start randomly fiddling with things, try to diagnose the problem.

What is your 0-60 time? MPG? Any smoke?

How is it slow? If you are comparing it to a N/A 300D w/3.46 gear then hell yea it's slow. How is your tranny shifting? At what rpms?

300d slow

1984 300d turbo 147k
remove the rear alda plug on the iintake maniford 12 mm and clean and the line to the alda on the injection pump, do a 10 psi pressure to input of the alda for leaks, I install a metric engine and the old fuel lift pump was reinstall and install a new fuel lift pump later $150.00, power is super, no smoke, fuel miles increase

What's this part, please.

Check that the vacuum lines to the over boost switch and all others are good.

Add the Mercedes$ource spammer RAYMOND485 to your ignore list.
You do NOT need a lift pump.

Well, her CD is a n/a 617 with 3.46 gear. It's going to be faster than a turbo with 3.07 gear anyways. When was the last time the valves were adjusted? Have you checked the line from the intake manifold to the boost switchover solenoid - chances are that the banjo bolt is partially plugged from sludge & soot that is coating the manifold (thanks to the evil EGR..). Then run a can of diesel purge. Do this first before playing with the ALDA, which will not do much anyways. You need to add a VNT, more fuel, and increase boost to make a 4000lb sedan move off the line faster.

With a 0-60 of 30 seconds you have much worse problem(s) than a clogged ALDA or no boost.

Start with changing the fuel filters and check the brakes.

You might get to 30 seconds without any boost.........I wouldn't rule out a clogged overboost protection solenoid.........or a failed ALDA.

Simplest thing to do is just remove the ALDA..........as you know.

If I suspected that I had no boost, and I do suspect that he has no boost..........it's the first thing I would do.

As I said, far from the first thing. Check the turbo for damage/shaft play, cleaning the banjo bolts, checking the overboost solenoid, changing the fuel filters, checking the linkage adjustment, check the service/parking brake operation, check exhaust (under car OxCat) restriction and THEN remove the ALDA for testing.

The ALDA does not randomly go bad, removing it first will just mask the real problem(s).

SERIOUSLY, leave the ALDA alone. If the car is sluggish... theres other reasons why ... fuel filters, tank strainer, low compression....

.. the ALDA is not to be messed with
