I'm burning WVO about 90% of the time in my 300D. With a 70 mile per day round trip to work and an avg MPG of 30, I think I'm spending about $0.95 per day on diesel. My math may be off.

You're not doing too bad either, Zu! 24mpg is slightly better than what I am getting (about 21, 22mpg). Maybe it's time I checked my tire pressures again and ran a bit of purge through the engine! I generally fill up twice a month, but I also usually fill the tank when I hit about 300 or 400 km on the trip meter. This usually works out to somewhere between the 1/4 and 1/2 mark on the gauge (usually closer to the 1/2 mark).

And yes, I would much sooner drive than bus it to work - I could drive and drop my wife at work on the way in (we only work about 3 blocks apart), or we could both bus for a total of $14.00 per day and probably a good hour each way plus 20 minute walk (as opposed to a half hour drive). Kind of a no-brainer there

I put about $25 of diesel in every two weeks. My commute is 60 miles/day- mostly highway-300 + miles per week + more one weekends. The rest is WVO in a 2 tank system (approx. 1hr/wk worth of work, collecting/filtering etc.)

I was wondering how long it would take for a WVOer to gloat.

70 mile round trip for work, 29 mpg at $3.94 a gallon, last time I filled up, (yes, I know the price will escalate) = $9.51 a day.

My 300D normally comes out her den only on weekends in the warm weather. But I’ve pressed her into service over the last two weeks as a fuel tanker. I’m switching my home heating system to natural gas and I want to end the heating season with a dry tank in my basement. With the cool weather hanging on I knew I’d need some more heating oil but way less that the minimum 100 gallons the fuel guy will deliver. So I made two fuel runs and transferred about 30 gallons into the house tank which I am hoping is enough. I feel like a pilot flying a sputtering airplane with the runway in sight but also at a distance. Come on baby, YOU CAN MAKE IT !.

My current commute is 100 miles per day. I can go almost a week on a tank full. Approx. $65.00 per week at $3.90 per gallon. The 240 sames me about $30 per week in fuel as opposed to the SLS.

I spend about $80-90 a month on fuel unless I go on any trips. Between Sept/Dec I barely drove 75 miles a week, so my costs were real low...only filled up like every 3.5-4 weeks.

Currently I drive about 150-200 miles a week tops, excluding trips. If I make a trip it usually adds 150 more.

On a related topic, I had 270,000 on the odo last night when I pulled in at my house. Kinda weird. Same thing happened at 250k! Right when I pulled in at my house! I am now at 270,021 My dad's car will be the story of the summer, if he goes on any road trips he's going to be right around 300k at the end of the season when he puts it into winter hibernation. He only has like 5,400 miles to go!

I was driving 25 miles daily, and filling up every 3 to 3.5 weeks at about $65 a pop. Fuel prices are high, but honestly, $20 a week isn't really putting that much of a dent in my finances.

Just refilled three of my red gas cans for 9 gal or $28. I used 3 whole house filters ($7.50 total), and 3 spin-on vehicle filters ($24 total). This ends up being just shy of $60 total. The WVO was free.

The odometer shows that I traveled 3100 miles in this time span, and took about 5 weeks.

Do the math and per week I drove about 600 miles, and it cost me $12.

I've been doing this for 2 years, and kicking myself for not learning about this before.

My friend has one of those. We call it the "Exxon Valdez"

It was triple digits to fill up from bone dry even from the spring of 2006 when gas was "only" 2.19!

My 2.5T does about 500-525 per tank depending on if I'm on the freeway a lot. 18.5 gallons including reserve, so when I usually fill it up at around 15 gallons it was about $55 last time I drove it in March.

About $80 every other week.

My commute to school is where I put on all the miles, 12 each way. My office is less than 1/2 a mile from my door. Most of my driving is short trips of a couple of miles around town to look at property. Not the best service for a diesel but I try to get it on the highway at least once a week.

This weekend I drove from denver to atlanta (about 1400 miles), I didn't keep track, but I guess that I paid around $225 for that trip. Next weekend I'm driving from atlanta to Raleigh, NC. The following weekend, back to denver. The whole trip should be about $5-600 in fuel.
