126 SDL Broken Speedo Interchange
Hello All,
So I was doing some work on the SDL and decided that painting the instrument needles and changing out the instrument lights sounded like a fun job. Everything went fine till I went to put the speedo needle back in and I broke the shaft that holds it in I now have it glued in at 65MPH (better than no needle I figured) but how do I go about repairing this issue? I know that it's not as simple as just getting another speedo, it has something to do with the rear differentials but how do I know what cars will work or won't work? Thanks for any help, Matt

Hi Matt,
I did the same thing. IIRC I gave you the original speedo. Maybe Palo Alto speedo can do something with it so you have no downtime. It shouldn't be too hard to find a speedo from an 86-87 SDL, I did. 90-91 350s also have a 140mph speedo but Nitske and Barrett say they have a 2.82 diff vs the 86-87's 2.88. My math says you'll be going 2% slower than the speedo indicates, 0.5% of which will be offset if you're still running 225/60 tires. Sixto 87 300D |

Hey Sixto,
I think you did give the old speedo but I put it in a safe spot and well you know how that goes. I figure that as long as it's close that's all that matters. I'll see what I can find. Thanks!
