2008 Carolina (and area) Meet up

Well we had a pretty good meet up last year in Cary, NC.

This year I am planning one in Fuquay-Varina, NC. I am still working on the dates, but it will be either late June or early July.

Now for you guys.... here is a chance to bring your lady along too. My wife is opening a bead store downtown Fuquay, so the ladies can spend time there if they like (she can even teach them how to make their own jewelry), or they can go to the antique shops and tea room. There is also a farmers market in the morning.

Us guys can be across the street in the public lot doing guy talk and swapping stories. Kids want to come? There is a Model Slot car track right across the street.

We were thinking about perhaps hosting a barbecue afterwards at our place.... Home of the MAN SHED (my VERY messy work shop) and Rec Room - Tiki Bar (9' Brunswick pool table, and air hockey to boot) and the MERCEDES ONLY Parking sign. We would ask people bring something to pass. If you are going to drink we ask that you have a designated driver and obtain a hotel if you are from a distance. We can help you find one.

Any thoughts? Anyone interested?

Hey if someone down Wilmington way wants an event for the beach later in the summer, lets get that going too!

I'm going to try to make it. I remember driving through there on I 40 many times, but can't remember exactly where Fuquay Varina is. Isn't it somewhere not too far from Burlington or Greensboro?

This is a large range, i realize that, but it's along the way between Greensboro and Raleigh.

Okay, I knew it was somewhere in that vicinity. That's pretty doable for me, so I'll probably be there and bring as many other Virginians (not virgins, though, sorry) as I can.

Fuquay is south of Raleigh and Cary. It takes me about 20 minutes to get to Cary, 30 to Raleigh. I-40 to highway 1. Highway 1 south to 55. 55 to Fuquay. If coming from the south.... I-40 to 210. 210 West to 55.

Sorry about the multiple posts. Last year, the gasser guys felt left out because I didnt post there.

I will have more details as I make them up LOL. I am on the road for the next week in Las Vegas for work. YA YA, SOMEONE has to do it!

I hope we can have another great turnout this year. Hope to see you guys/gals!

Hey if someone down Wilmington way wants an event for the beach later in the summer, lets get that going too!

I have possibilities of getting rooms at Marriott, Carolina Beach at deep discount for two night stays. My company's marketing manager has a boatload of soon to expire guest points which I may be able to prevail on him to use for such an event.

'Bout how many people, when and how do you like your steaks cooked??

Pete from Wilmington...
