Question Cam lube.. should I worry?

Yesterday I fired up my engine after it had been sitting idle for a couple of months. It ran fine for about 2-3 minutes, after that I shut it off.

Took off the valve cover and this is what it looks like, cam is completely dry between the two last lobes, you can clearly see the surface rust on it.
The last two lobes were.. if I stretch it.. barely lubricated.

Should I worry about this? I mean, it ran just for a couple of minutes, maybe it takes some time for the oil to reach all the way back there?
Should I pull the oil line and clean it, maybe there's crap in it? Whadda ya think?

It's a OM617.910 and it has oil pressure (needle pegged to 3).

Since you have your cover off it would be a good idea to smear some lube on them.

Sounds to me like plugged oil galleys.

Looks to me like the rust was on the cam between the lobes. I am not sure but there is no contact there and would probably go away with more running.

Try using a rubber tipped blow gun with air ... use goggles... to clear those holes ... you do really need that oil going to every lobe....

You need to start the car and check to see if oil is coming out of the oil lines. I would say that just running the car would take any rust off. Also, might be a good idea to get the old oil can (do people still have oil cans?) out and give everything up there a nice oil bath.

Thanks all..

I'm not really worried about the rust per se, that part of the cam has no contact with anything so it's not a problem. What worries is that the rust is visible, the cam should be soaked in oil, but it isn't..

Might do as DieselBone suggest and run the engine without the valve cover, to see if there's any oil coming out those holes anyways.
