American Version of Top Gear With Adam Carolla

http://en.wikipedia.org:80/wiki/Gear_(Top_Gear_USA)

I know we have lots of fans of top gear on this board so I thought this was post-worthy...sorry if it is not directly related to diesel though.

I like Adam Carolla. He's very entertaining.

He's a riot. I won't be watching "Dancing With the Stars" with my wife anymore now that he was booted. His comments and diggs at everyone were the only reason I could tolerate watching it in the first place.

He sounds like a good choice....we'll see how it goes. I hope they do just as many crazy things as they do on the British show!

I hope they actually make it technical, and less staged. The people on the british show probably don't know how to do an oil change

It's still there. The link didn't pick up the last parenthesis. Note that the link he provided has a black character at the end...

I probably won't like it. I love the dry British jokes and humor. I also like how they make fun of American cars, hate Vette's, and say anything British is the best.

Not to mention all their crazy trips.

Its not a technical show, its entertainment. For people who already know the stats and just want to laugh.

If you want stats watch Car & Driver or Motor trend.

Bingo.

Thankfully Leno turned down the offer, not because he's unworthy, but rather because he knows he couldn't do the show justice and because the idea of an American Top Gear is doomed from the start. Being part of the BBC, the original version is not reliant on advertising to stay on the air, so talking smack about a particular automaker and its wares is no biggie. As Leno notes, things work differently at NBC and any episode in which a sponsor gets lambasted would immediately be followed by what The Tonight Show host calls, "the meeting". And then, bye bye sponsors and bye bye show.

...

The fact is, however, the task of doing justice to this great export from Great Britain is near impossible, and Jay knows it.
As much as I like Top Gear, I'd rather keep downloading the actual BBC show than see an American version make a mockery of the Top Gear name. Nobody can take the place of Jeremy, Hamster and James. Even Jason Dawe dragged down the first season until James May replaced him.

I am not going to watch it because he caused " Tiger Tassels" Julliane Hough to be sent home.
I don't think anyone should be sent home...they should all have to stay and learn all the dances..
Then the final show they declare a winner...

Top Gear has been running for many years now. The format has changed considerably in recent years. It was quite a serious show before.

yah Adam Carolla is a real gear head. He owns an old Datsun 510 race car, really nice car actually. The 510 are really cool cars atleast I think so. He is a comic and likes cars alot, good choice IMHO to be a host. I am not sure how well it will work out here over in the states but lets just hope that it is equally good to watch as the British cousin.
