Doesn't matter really at idle as long as there's pressure. Then under load it should be at 3 bar.
Just make sure you have the right amount of oil. DON'T OVER FILL. That is very important. Its better to be a little low then a little over. Especially on a diesel. I'm sure others will agree.

I'm no mechanic, but this sounds like terrible advice.

it's not, you can get a vac system for about $100 that does the job very well through the dipstick tube. You'll often find you get more oil out then you remember putting in there! Very good investment and I need to get off my arse and pick one up ASAP.

It is better than not changing your oil....
so it might give one time to address the bad plug situation... but long range I certainly think that changing the oil hot and from the plug ( with it situated as low as possible... like driving one side up on a curb... ) is the best solution. Some of the newer cars suggest using a suction to take out the oil regularly.. but I wonder if perhaps they have planned ahead and designed the place the suction tube hits in the pan to be acceptable for this procedure... as compared to putting one on our diesels that may not have that design feature.... |

I have a MityVac fluid extractor and I just replaced my oil cooler lines. I was thinking it looks like you could suck all the oil out the dipstick tube and then when you take the filter out of the housing, you could slip the extractor tube into the lower oil cooler line from inside the housing and suck the oil out of there too. That would make an oil change with a topsider a cleaner option. I haven't tried it yet, but it should work right?

I get more oil out of my 606 through the dipstick tube than through the drain plug. Sucking the oil out takes longer, but the whole job is quicker since I don't have to lift the car (the 210 sits lower than your older cars). The whole job is also a whole lot easier and cleaner. It would be easier yet if I bought an air or electric powered extractor.

I believe sucking oil out is the preferred way now for Mercedes.

Maybe because it's faster=cheaper.

Faster, cheaper and does a better job. What's not to like?

That may be true... but may not be backwards compatible with our old cars....

I think it is, but I would certainly not bet much on it. However, if you're in the St. Louis area, I'll suck your oil out and you can see if any more comes out the drain plug.

Well I don't care what's the best way. I got the bolt out and me and the car are both very happy. I did a diesel purge today too. That was pretty fun I must say.... It has twice the power that it had before. On to the valve adjustment!!!
