1972 Mercedes Benz 220D/8 4-Door Sedan. 76,100 miles. A classic in mint condition and ALL ORIGINAL inside and out. One of the few 220's left on the road! Tobacco Brown with tan interior. Originally purchased: April 24,1972 from Daimler Benz in Stuttgart, Germany and shipped to U.S. Currently second owner. Gets 42-46mpg on B20 Bio-diesel. Drives like new - NO REPAIRS NEEDED. Owners kept meticulous records and maintenance history. Includes all original repair, maintenance and owner's manuals, as well as accessories. This is an extremely well-cared for non-smoker's vehicle stored in a garage for many years. Maintenance history and many photos available upon request. Block warmer installed for colder climates. Minimal cosmetic issues . This could be a show car with a little love from the next owner! (216) 741-7990

I just saw it on Craig's list and thought I'd share.
Jay

Odd.....

....Notice the first aid kit on the passenger kick panel.

Nice car.
Drove 220Ds for a number of years.
Sometimes I miss then, then I drive my 83 300D, and I get over it.

better read between the lines

seems to me after dealing with over 100 old cars that if one thing is over stated you had better be looking for other problems. my experience is that the 220d set up with the 4 speed wont come close to the fuel milage stated and i got 8 of thes cars. also keep in mind that the odmeter dosent work correctly on any of them,it slips and records less than actual.
just my opinion,beware

Must be all downhill where this car is. My recollection for mileage was pretty consistent upper twenties, occasionally a low thirty if I was gentle.

Hard to be gentle when a 220D just has an on-off switch. It's either floored, or you're coasting.

I really appreciate the extra power in the 83 300D vice the 220D, and as I get older I don't mind the transmission doing my shifting for me. If I want to shift, I've still got 4 cars with a manual.....

I just started driving the 240D after its winter break, and as I've said before, it feels like you are "saving money" when you drive this car. Its cool and I love it, but when you drive the 5 or 6 cylinders Mercedes Diesel it feels like a different rig. Best to have one of each I guess, right honey? (she is in the shower)
