Question This is a good one! Low beams keep blowing.

My low beams headlights keep blowing. Installed two new ones they blew after one week. The fuse was still good. Checked voltage at headlights got 14 at idle and 17 at high rev. Checked alternator. The voltage regulater was stuck. Replaced with new alt. Now have 14 at lights hidh and low. This does not sound right. Any idea? Can't keep replacing bulbs at ten dollars a-pop. Thanks for any help.

Put in NEW Fuse...and check the grounds... lights blowing is most often bad grounds.

Sounds good to me. 17Volts was definitely excessive, 14v is about right when the engine is runing.

System voltage with the alternator online should be pretty close to 14 volts. The high and low beams both require the same voltage; they just use different elements in the lamp.
