93 300D glow plug issue
 

I installed a grease car kit in my 1993 300D and i had a couple of fuel lines reversed and i did not know it. needless to say it would not start. so I kept cranking it until the battery died. So I hooked up some jumper cables from my truck and while i was cranking it the glow plug light stopped working. I must have burnt something out.
I read the instructions from "diesel giant" on glow plugs and i THINK all of the plugs are ok. My preglow relay looks a little different than the one in the instructions. I don't see a strip fuse on mine. Should I just go ahead and buy the preglow relay from Fastlane for $159.00 or should I try something else?
I figured out that the grease car fuel lines were wrong and corrected them, the car will start and the grease car system works great. but it starts rough do to the glow plug issue.

Some one on the forum should be able to tell you where the fuse is located. You might trace your relay wires back ward and see where they go. If they go to a small plastic box or panel with a cover the fuse might be there. Or if you regular fues box has a chart see if the GP relay fuese is in your regular fuse box.
Even if your relay looks different you sould be able to determine if you are getting voltage to you glow plugs and this would tell you if the strip fuse is OK. You can still use part of Diesel Gaints trouble shooting method.

Does you glow plug light come on for a short time after the engine starts? If so you have 1 or more failed glow plugs.Easy test,unplug the harness from the relay connect the clip of your test light to the + terminal of your battery,touch the probe end to the connectors in the harness plug one at a time.Good glow plugs will cause the light to light,bad ones will not light the test light.Look closely at the harness plug and you will see that the sockets are numbered so you will know which ones are good or bad.Probably burned out one or more from extended starting attempts while you had the fuel lines crossed. Great! That test worked. 2 and 3 do not light up when I use the test light on the plug.
Wow! it looks like 2 and 3 are very hard to get to. Any tips?

Tiny.Tiny hands? Off with the Intake?
 

04 diesel told me he managed to change out his glow plugs using 1/4":extensions,universal joints and sockets.(With the Intake in place.)

I will never be that adept,My Intake and the Cruise Control Actuator will
have to come off!
