Power steering front seal

Hi everyone,

My PS front seal on the 81SD is leaking. I did a search and found a very good write-up on changing the seal on a 92 or 95 E. But the pump looked very different than the SD, and they also talked about two front seals as opposed to one (according to my parts booklet) on the 617 engine. My question is: can the seal be accessed after the pully is removed or does the pump have to be removed from the car and disassembled to get at the seal?
I have the new seal ($4.50 at the dealer!!!)
Thanks

Did you figure this out?

The front seal on my 300CD PS pump is leaking. So I need to do the same job.

Cheers
