Bosio injector nozzles

I just finished a frustrating few hours putting in injectors in my 85 Turbo diesel.Thought I'd pass on some interesting info. I bought them a while back from dieselgiant.com. My engine has 250K and runs well, idles smoothly and gets 26 mpg. She looked to have rebuilt injectors and had ID rubber rings on them. The pictorial on diesel giant's site and my shop manual were my guides. I had a set of junkyard injectors from an 85 300D I found in Fresno CA and decided to rebuild them instead of the rebuilt units in my 300D, just in case! I bled the pump and lines and fired her up. She started and ran terribly, barely, smoking, bucking like a bronco. There wasn't one injector that seemed worse than any other. cracking one injector nut would often cause the engine to stop. What to do? I figured I'd just send them to the nearest Bosch shop which was 300 miles away and put my old injectors back in. AS I was boxing them up I decided to take them apart to be sure I didn't put something in backwards. Nope. All were fine and clean. I decided to take apart one of my rebuilt injectors just to compare and discovered that the nozzle holder insert and the thrust pin were different from my junkyard CA injectors. I have heard so many rave reviews about these Bosio nozzles that I decided to rebuild the injectors that were in my car with the Bosio nozzles. I popped them in and she started and ran fine, no better and no worse than before. I was starting to remember the adage about"If it ain't broke....." but I decided to do a test drive. WOW! I had a real rocket ship on my hands. I had no idea a MB 300D was so fast. Amazing units. So I am assuming that if you get used injectors, be careful of their source of origin. I am now very pleased with my Bosio nozzles.
