300SDL Problems

my OM603 engine is clapping when its at operating temp, the sound is not so noticable when its idleing when its cold but when it hit's 80*C the sound appears but not as loud when accelarating at 1100 to 1900 Rpm, when it reaches at 2000 rpm the sound ceased, sound also ceases at idle if I rev it at 2000 rpm for a few seconds in netural, what should i do, do i have to purge it, replace my injector, or even MY IP (i know this stuff is NOT cheap), and my oil psi gauges is showing at 1.5 to as low as 1 bar... should i be concern about this or is this normal.

THX

The clapping sound is just the engine applauding your driving technique...................

Seriously, it's not possible to give you any meaningful assistance when you utilize the term "clapping". It's nothing that any of us can possibly diagnose.

I'd suggest ticking lifters (of which I have at least one pernicious one) but that in my experience (with my car) shows up as a louder, more violent noise when cold than when at operating temperature.

A worn belt tensioner can set up quite a racket.

Does the oil pressure ever go above 1.5?

It should go up to 3 when the engine is running faster than idle.

yes the oil pressure goes up to 3 when accelarting but stays at 1.5 at idle, belt tensinor is ok, as i accelarate the clapping sound speed up untill 2000 rpm then it fades... after all this engine was a swap engine that was sitting in a warehouse for some time i think i need to purge it, do you reccomend purging a OM603 that has a cataylic converter???

Good question. I know oxidation catalysts can clog over time but I've never heard of the cause being fuel system cleaners or fuel additives. Anyone know?
