Engine Temp Sensors
My '79 240D has two temperature sensors on the side of the engine block.
I suspect one is a switch for the A/C; and the other is a variable resistor for the instrument panel. Anyone know which one is which? I don't have a schematic. Also, does anyone know the target resistance --frankb |

I dont remember which is which, one if for the GP relay, other temp gauge, just pull a wire and see which doesn't work, you should be able too tell. As I remember, no continuity means no workie. They are cheap and easy to replace.

On my 617, the rear sensor is for the gauge. try switching the wires on the sensors. If the gauge works, yeah, we did it.
when we first bought the car the gauge didn`t come up to 80c. the thermostat was broken where the humped piece of metal was spot welded to the base. Charlie ☺
