Can anyone help me find the Headlights-On buzzer on an 1985 300D...

My Headlights-On buzzer on my 1985 300D has long ago faded into oblivion and makes no sound. Worse I can't seem to find it on my Shop CD. Can anyone help me locate it /and or tell me how to access it?

Its a silver box on the same bracket as the cruise amp, but its about 1/4 the size, in the location dieselgiant mentioned.

Since we're on the topic of buzzers, does anybody know if it can be changed out with one from a different car. I like the buzz in a sense because it is well, very mercedes like. But it also bugs me alot.... kinda annoying. I am partial to softer chimes and more unique ones like those found on some 10 year old VW's that sound like european ambulance sirens....

Surprisingly mine still works on my 1985. Even more surprising that the one in my 1969 Chevrolet still works as well. Most of these on the older cars are long gone.

It has a similar "buzzing" sound and is very audible from outside of the car because the buzzer system is under the hood on this car from what I can tell. All of the old American cars have the "buzzer" system. I think 1968 was the first year of this on most American cars, but it was mostly a "key in switch" reminder. The "lights on" was mainly reserved for the luxury cars of that era, such as Cadillac, Lincoln and Chrysler Imperial.

The buzzers on both of our cars still work too, but in more of a "please let me die" kind of way than a "Listen to me buzz!!" type way. I wanted to find a 12V sound chip to implant inside that alumnim housing for the buzzer, I bet its possible......

The one on my '85 was on its way out, meaning it sounded like it was saying, "Rip me out and shoot me for crying out loud!". The one on my '84 works quite nicely and I'd say that's a mixed blessing. Its handy being reminded when you have the lights on. I used to start the car then put on my seatbelt but this car insists that I do it seat belt first and its very insistant with that buzzer that lasts almost as long as the gp cycle. Kind of reminds me of the gf, annoying buzzing sound that drills into your head......

My buzzer sounds weak and kind of pathetic. Can they be fixed or just replaced?

This is the same buzzer that goes while the door is open correct? I hate that thing, unplugged mine right away.

Do all W123 have headlight buzzers

I've only had my 85 300td for 2 weeks and already ran the batttery dead due to leaving the headlights on. Did this car have a buzzer at one time? Based on the info I see on this thread I think I can figure out how to replace it but only if the writing already exists. Thanks

Picture #60. The silver box relay is the warning relay for headlights, seat belts, and instrument cluster light test.
This location is under the drivers instrument area and just above the parking brake pedal location.
