What battery will fit my 84 300D?

I'm looking for a new battery for my 300D. I know I need a group 49 battery. The problem is finding one for a reasonable price or even finding one period.
What other battery group fits my car?

I got a Bosch battery from PepBoys for $80. I believe it has 1000 CCA. They had my car in the database to ensure I had the right battery.

I don't have any Pep Boys in my area and $80 is way more than I want to spend.

I didn't know you could get car batteries cheaper. How much are you trying to keep the cost to?

You can have mine. It was working fine at when I put the car away for the winter, but now it's dead. I think it would come back with a charge, but I pulled a newer one from a parts car that I am using now.

Diehard sells a group 49 battery for that year of Benz. I purchased one for my 300D. Was $150, but now my car starts in the winter. Every time.

I woulden't skimp on the battery.

My 300D is only a hobby car. I really don't want to spend a lot on something that I only occasionally drive. I am hoping to find something at Costco that might fit. I'm just a bit tired of swapping the battery out of my 230CE back and forth.

If its just an occassional hobby car then a typical small car battery from a typical gasser car would probably be plenty for occassional use...if you're going to be that cheap about it.

The small batteries can be had for like $50....

You guys ought to know me by now that I'm the "King of the Cheap". I got a good battery for my GMC for just a little over $30 from Costco. It too only gets occasional use. The battery hasn't gone dead on me yet in the 3 years or so it's been installed.
It looks like Bgkast is going to let me have his old battery and nothing beats that price.
Thanks, Bgkast!

It might be a good idea to get/use a maintenance/trickle charger to keep the battery for the occasionally used 300d up to the task of starting.

Yes that is a good idea. I just happen to have one just for that purpose.

If you're not Wal-Mart averse, they have group 49 batteries. The last one I got at AutoZone was under $80 IIRC.

I have the battery out of the totalled 93 SD if you want to come down and get it

Like a lot of things, I think batteries have gotten outragously expensive in the last few months.

On a 5 cyl, I don't think there is a good alternate to the group 49.
On the 240D, I think a group 41 may do in warmer climates. I have one on one of my 240D's and it works fine and fits the tray well. It's not as tall as a 49
