Ouch!! The wife ran into the back of a SUV

Thankfully she is fine (The wife not the car) however the Benz. needs a grill a fog light and the plastic headlight surrounds and a fan shroud. We got lucky the core support is pushed in but didn't push the radiator into the fan. I think it can be pulled out easily, the hood is flexed but not creased so it may be good to go also. The fan shroud hit the power steering belt and popped it off but I don't think there is any more damage than that. I need to know what year grills will fit our 84' 300D, I now pull a part has some 240's and maybe a 80 300D but no 84' 300D's. This was a slow speed moment of inativity in a parking lot, if the bumper height hadn't been so different there may not have been any damage, the suv wasn't damaged enough for the other driver to even want to turn it into the insurance company.

Thanks,

Mike

I've got your fog light. I'm sure other people will chime in with parts they have for ya. PM me with interest. I do not like higher SUV's bumpers for this reason.

cphilip, Mobetta, I am in southern Indiana, (Floyds Knobs if your familiar w/area) I am accross the Ohio river from Louisville Ky. I need the plastic head light covers for both sides. I could use a fan shroud and also the Grill, the hood is giong to be alright I believe. I plan to work on it some this afternoon after Church, and going out to lunch. I will probably go to pull a part tues. morning when I get off work and scaveng some parts.

Thanks for the offers, hopefully I can find parts localy, and cheap.

Mike

Well I got time to check it out a bit better. I was able to winch the core support foreward and remove the plastic remains of the headlight surrounds. The hood is alligned with the locking mechanism and opening and closing well, but it is sitting about 3/4" high on both sides (it looks like it does after you pull the interior release) it is shutting all the way I just think the core support is now that much higher than before the accident have to think about how to fix this. The powersteering belt went right back and there is no damage to the pump. I decided to check the antifreez and it was low, ($hi+) yep the radiator is leaking. The air condition is still working, well as good as it did before the accident anyway. All in all it isn't going to be that difficult or expensive as long as I can get used parts.

Wow Greaseyone, she did do a number on your car, my sympathy goes out to you. I am benifiting from my wife's accident in some ways, she knows I love the car so she feels pratty bad about it. It bothers me more about the gas it is costing for her to drive the mini van, (the Benz. is one of our two greasemobiles). Matthias if pull a part doesn't have a good grill I would like to see about shipping it down here.

Thanks,

Mike
