What do you wear when you are doing work on your Diesel?

Sorry, but my all time favorite attire is Shorts. I hate pants. I sweat a lot.

I hate to wear pants maybe because of my hefty butt. They make feel so awkward and like I am wearing a Fur Coat.

I usually wear a long sleeve t shirt , sweats and the lawn cutting sneakers. My wife once tried to buy me overalls, but they felt like I was wearing a Deep Sea Diving Suit. Try wearing those things on a 90 degree Humid Day.

Needless to say my legs and kneecaps have pieces of the driveway embedded in them. Ppeople always take a second look at me when they see how uncosmetic they are. Nothing major, jsut not very cosmetic.

I hate shorts, pants are all I can wear.

shorts in the summer, pants in the winter.Plus one of the many old shirts I have gotten from car shows, software developers, conferences.. etc also, I always put down cardboard if I have to kneel

Grimy Jeans and a T shirt

Whatever I'm wearing when I have a free moment, ... I ruin a lot of nice shirts.

If it's cooler out, I'll wear the mechanic's overalls. In warmer weather, I just wear old t-shirts and shorts. I use knee pads if I'm crawling around either way. Definitely easier on the knees than a pebble or bolt.

Cardboard is Life saver

Talk about WIERD. Whenever I see those big sheets of Cardboard from IKEA or boxes, I stop to get them. I lay them down to protect myself and to protect the drivway when I change oil.

Claen up is simple. Throw away the cardboard and shave my hair which seems to be the final resting place for all grime, scrum, scrud and slough.

Old pair of jeans and sweatshirt - when it's cold.
Old pair of shorts and T shirt - when it's warm.
Cover floor underneath car with old newspapers when doing anything messy. Kneel on an old piece of carpet to save my knees.

Cheers!

Cut off blue jeans when it is cool out.
Board shorts when it is hot out, they dry quickly.
And card board, I allways have it around, you can slide very easy under the car with it.

I am a huge cardboard box user also. Easy to slide in and out on, and just throw them away when super nasty. I'm not always on pavement either, so I really need it.
In winter I went to army/navy store and got a pilots coverall to work in. Kind of a mechanics "onesy"... :o
In summer I had some great camo pajama pants. Looked like camo pants but were super thin and cool. Alas, they shredded last week doing yard work....:bigcry:

i work in the oil field, and i just wear my work coveralls. it is not possible to get those any dirtier by working on my car:D

Can't risk scratching my paint, I just work in a wife beater and boxers. As for kneeling, I use an old exercise mat. Its also nice for laying on the ground under a vehicle.

ImBroke 04-22-2008 04:37 PM

Coveralls all the time.
