Trunk won't open

So I've opened the trunk before on the '83 300D so I know it opens, but I went out to put something in the back and couldn't get it open. The key turns but nothing. I spent 15 minutes messing with it, pushing on it, turning every way I could. I tried again this morning and couldn't open it either. This thing isn't tied to the vacuum is it, as I have vacuum issues. This car is literally like a woman. I swear she breaks something just to keep my attention.

Any ideas?

Yes it has a vacuum lock actuator, but should open with the square headed key anyway.

Yes, thats how its done! Ye gotta press the button while turning the key. And then pull the plastic panel thats off-center towards drivers side next to the clasp mechanism inside and *disconnect* the rod from vacuum solenoid so it never self locks again.

...or just fix your vacuum system so you don't have to mess around with the key.
