Repair Woe's this past weekend
I had an oil line leaking so I decided to replace them along with both motor mounts on Saturday. The job wasn't too bad, no stripped bolts, everything came off fairly easy. Get everything back together and do a test run and the lower fitting at the oil filter leaked. Get back down there and tighten it up a little. Still leaks. Tighten it up more, still leaks. Tighten it up a little more, leaks again. Now I notice it's leaking at the braised joint where the fitting is attached to the hard line.
Now I'm pissed, I have to do the whole thing all over again. The one break I did get is the defective oil line wasn't the one that was leaking so I was able to put the original line back on. Only lost about a quart of oil redoing it. Find out while finishing up that both engine shocks are bad. Started at 9:00am finished at 5:00pm. Sunday, go out to replace a broken window regulator. Have the wrong one. No problem, prop the window up with pieces of wood. Now I decide to tackle the AC system. Remove the expansion valve and find a o-ring disfigured. Now I know why it was leaking. Monday, drive to gf's house after work. Driving home had a bad scraping sound driving home. Took the wheel off yesterday and started checking. Brake pads good, rotor and caliper good. Find out it's definitely the wheel bearing. Now I need to order 2 more bearings. What a past few days, I've been putting some stuff off for the lack of funds but now it's biting me in the ass. I found a good thread on wheel bearings while searching: http://www.peachparts.com/shopforum/tech-help/26178-w126-front-wheel-bearing-question.html#post137710 So, you really don't need any special tools to drive out the old races?? And as far as the o-ring I used Nylog on them but one of rings from a fitting that screws into the top of the expansion valve didn't seat right. How do you get them to stay in place long enough to tighten the fitting down? Danny

Same thing happened to me. That was 6 months ago - still have the wood in there. It's on the to-do list. Good luck man......I've got a pending brake pad/rotor/hoses job pending and I'm fearful that this may turn into a similar saga. As a dear friend once told me, that was how his odyssey began too. Maybe funds are tight because you spent all winter torturing me with skiing adventures?

Did you loosen the clamps on the oil cooler line before you tried to tighten the nut?
