Prepping the calipers slides, proper shims and a good synthetic brake lube for the pad contact areas and squealing goes byebye, no matter the pad. Except for the rears when reversing of course.....

Jimmy L convinced me
I did a search in advance of ordering new pads. This thread and this post convinced me to try the ceramics. Any newer ideas are invited from this bump.

Ceramics
They last a long time, they don't squeak, and they seem to stop fine. [I'm not sure how much difference I could tell in stopping ability]
I used them on my F150 when I used to tow a 5th wheel and they did fine with that. And ZERO dust, and I must say, might be my #1 priority... I just put the semi metallics on Smash and they are doing fine also. Haven't been on long enough to test the dusting qualities. Didn't want to foot the ceramic bill for that car right now...

I have Akebono ceramic pads on my w123 front brakes, stop very nicely, VERY little brake dust if at all.
I've experimented a little, did not wash the car for the holidays. Turned out, the front wheels had less dust than the rears, which are running on Textar pads. Amazing.
