1984 300SD Pump will not idle steady..........
Hi,
My 1984 300SD WILL NOT idle steady when it is cold, it idles at 700 rpm's and then it will go up to 950 rpm's, until it warms up, Then it will stay steady around 1000 rpms. Any ideas? Thank you ahead of time! Jim

Had same idle problem
I have had the same idle problem for about 20 years in a 1981 300SD. Had the valves adjusted for the first time ever (255K miles) and adjusted the idle up just a bit and it went away.
