Good to know....don't really want to do the job twice....

Having the hoses replaced probably isn't an option because I will be precision-cutting the nuts off the ends of the lines to preserve the oil cooler threads.

Try to break the nuts first before doing that. Heat them up really good and see what you get.

However considering where you live I'd say the chances of stripping the threads is pretty good.

ive removed hoses a total of 3 times each hose on one of my cars. Thats a total of 6 times, not one of them has stripped. My threads are fine, just unscrew it. Dont be so paranoid

So far, two out of two times I have removed the lines they stripped and ruined the threads....we use lots of salt....it all depends where you live.

However, I am going to heat them up like crazy (MAPP GAS) before I try. I'm also going to try cutting them with a dremel to weaken the nut first. I have many things I'll be doing to save the threads, hopefully they will work.

Several days treatment of penetrant too....
