fluid leak from alternator?

I saw yellow liquid at the bottom of the alternator a month ago and wiped it off. I saw it again today.

I do not think it is leaked out engine oil, because engine oil in my car is black.

My car is 1992 300D.

Coolant. The water pump is above the alternator.

Yep, coolant could be dripping from hose above or splashed from when the reservoir was filled. Another remote posibility is refrigerant oil from a leaking ac compressor. ALthough the compressor is in the bottom, it will splash oil but you would usually see that all over. And also only if yellow tracer dye was added to it.

The alternator is an electrical device and has nothing in it that leaks out.
