124 602 clock
My clock stopped working yesterday.
I checked fuse no 9 and it looks good. Any ideas as to how I can get it fixed ? |

"Looks Good"
Continuity check with DMM is the definitive check of fuses.
The holders may have some corrosion buildup.

Does it not work all the time on only when the key is out?
If you give up, try Palo Alto Speedometer on Emerson just south of University. Sixto 87 300D |

Thanks!
I got a feeling it may be the capacitors. Another electronic job Sixto! I will clean fuse receptacle 9 and see if it solves the problem. |

Its also common to get corrosion on the fuse ends where they touch the holders, I believe the blue fuses are the ones that are now available with copper colored metal strips, this is preferable over the aluminum strips that were common before. It a dissimilar metals thing that makes them corrode. As for the clocks, it sounds like shorted caps. That also burns out a small resistor on the back of the clock, I've had to replace that also. Its a job that requires some skill and a small soldering iron but you can save a bundle if you DIY. The hassle you might have is getting the instrument cluster out far enough to disconnect the speedo cable, the proper way is to loosen it at the transmission for some slack, don't pull on it or you may damage the cable
