Back door won't open

My rear passenger door will no longer open. I can't even unlock it by pulling up the lock on the door. All the other door locks function normally. Anyone else have this problem before? Any suggestions?

Nope. This is the door on the other side. I fiddled around with it some tonight and it opened. I also noticed that the key will not work in the lock on the passenger side. I wonder if that is just a bad tumbler?

The key will not work on Mistress' SL on the driver's side door. I guess the locks just wear out eventually.

They may need to be retumbled. I did that on the trunk of my 123. Wasn't hard, though it was sort of hard to figure out the first time.

"Retumbled?" Take them out and toss them down the driveway a couple a times?

My W116 doors wouldn't open using the outside handle but would using the the inside. There's a small screw accessible once the outside door handle is removed that needed to be adjusted.

Somebody told me that you can't fix them, you have to order new ones from MB. At least thats what I thought they were telling me.

Would that also interfere with the operation of the vacuum system at that door? All the other locks work correctly except for that one.

I don't think so.

Oh good. I was afraid that one repair operation might take care of two problems . . .

my pass key doesnt work either- there is a lil cheeep piece of plasti crap in there that breaks off because when you try to use that door, it is fighting against the vac of the door lock system.
I'll live w/ it, because it seems pointless to fix it so it can break again. if you really need to be able to open that door- or all of them, install a remote unlock on the drivers door- it will then open all.

Did the key ever work that you know of? Maybe someone swapped the door?
For retumbling, I posted in Tech Help of me redoing a trunk lock. It was from a different car, and I moved the pins in the tumbler around to make it work. Retumbled is my redneck word for it.
