Cabin Fan Motor Brushes on a Seimens
I have been following a few threads on Climate Control repairs for the W123, and also read the DIY article on pulling the unit and resoldering it, which was very helpful. Last weekend I pulled my CCU, took it apart and cleaned it. There were no cracks in the soldered joints so I followed the old adage of "If it ain't broke, don't fix it."
My fan does not usually come on unless I push the defrost button and then go back to the EC (economy) button with the thermostat calling for full heat. Sometimes it does come on by itself. So I suspected the brushes on the fan motor were worn out. So I pulled the motor but could not see access to the brushes. I have gathered that people have found several different brands of motors installed. Mine is a Seimens. The brushes might be obscured by the squirrel cage, but I did not see how to get the squirrel cage off the spindle without breaking something. It appeared to be pressed on. Does anyone have any experience with access to the brushes on a Seimens? Thanks for your input. BTW, this is an 84 300D. Richard
