'78 240D floor....

Hello all,

Was there a factory 'sound detaning' material that was used on the floor on the interior of these cars? What I mean is, when I lift the floor mats up, should there be the bare floor panel or a layer of sound detaner?

Thanks I hope this makes sense!

The insulation is attached to the floor mat, not the floor.

There is a layer of asphalt sound deadening material adheared to the metal floor.

Want your Benz to last another 25 years? Remove the Asphalt from the floors.

That's EXACTLY what I am talking about. I will be leaving it alone for now....

Thanks, yet again, for the quick detailed information!
