Yeah, and they're destroying the ozone layer, too, with all that methane and whatnot . . . Damned global warming-contributing cows!

Didn't think so but, you never know...

I read something once that a volcanic eruption can produce more greenhouse gasses in a single eruption event than is generated by all the cars, cows and whatever over the course of an entire year.

Junk science....but, it's all academic, 2002 NT7 will hit the Earth on February 1, 2019 and change things immeasurably.

Yeah, we have some of those natural lawn mowers, but with the cost of diesel I'm gonna have to park the skid loader and muck the corrals and stalls with a shovel and wheel barrow, and that my friends is a real *****ty deal.

Don't tell Al Gore or he'll be making movies about getting rid of volcanos . . . . and asteroids, and whatnot.

An '80 300SD is a nice car. It makes sense to put the daughter in the Honda as a daily driver with high fuel prices, but I suggest holding onto the SD if there's nothing major wrong with it and using it as a backup car, making sure to use it once a week or so to make sure all is OK.
I leave much earlier now, driving like the proverbial old man, very light on the accelerator letting the pedal mashers pass me. It makes a big difference.

Who knows? Gas prices may go up further, and Diesel may end up back where it belongs, or at least stays at the same price as gas due to our infrastructure and goods/services being dependent on it.
In the past couple of weeks, I've seen the gap between RUG and Diesel shrink from over $1 to about .70.

Have patience grasshopper. Don't totally jump yet, unless there's a really pressing need.

I got an idea -- How 'bout we all write our congresspeople and have them form a special committee to look into banning both volcanoes and meteors?

In the meantime, I'll be spending as much time as I'm able on this --

Diesel is about $4.40 per gallon here in SO CA. I fill up about 3 times during the month bringing my montly fuel bill to about $225 per month.

You can barely buy a new car for a $200 monthly payment. And you would still have to buy $110 worth of fuel (if you were able to cut the fuel cost in half). I'm averaging 22 mpg around town. A traditional Corolla or Honda gets about 28 to 30 around town which would only lower my fuel cost by 1/3rd.

So for me, the math still doesn't work. I have no car payment. Now if I buy a motorcycle with a much lower monthly payment and much better fuel mileage..........that would be cool......

The problem I see is that Europe and the UK have had very high fuel prices for years and those countries have had lots of time to improve public transportation, bike paths and more efficient alternative transportation (small diesels etc.). Its a culture thing.

We are just now experiencing high fuel prices and have no plan B. Lots of the US is stuck with low mpg SUV's and no alternatives. So we are going to feel the pain for quite some time. No bike paths, no small diesels, big ass SUV's, too many cars on too small of freeways and crappy public transportation (except in the Bay Area and metro NY).

However the good news is that I'm seeing the freeways much less congested during the day (I'm in outside sales) and the State of CA just reported a 9% drop in gasoline tax revenue (declining demand due to high prices and Prius's and hybrids). I figure we need another 500,000 to 1MM hybrids on the road and we can tell Chavez to go F himself....atmo)

I'm just trying to drive less. I cut out all the crap and now even while commuting to school I can make a tank last two weeks. So I'm paying about what I did last year. When summer rolls around with the help of a bike to get me into better shape I can probably stretch a tank out to almost a month.

I was planning on getting an SL500 when I get out of school, but now that its going to cost me $100 to fill the damn thing up a CDI is looking better and better.

Don't you know that your lawn mower's are a major contributor to Global Warming. It's all those COW F**T's. Yep Methane is a killer....LOL! I LMAO every time I here that story on the news...and the news caster's cannot keep a straight face either.

Here I sit with a new to me 560 SEC and my 380SE. The SE gets about a third better mileage than the SEC. So the SE is my everyday driver.

It's really hard to have a hot SEC and not be able to let the horses out every noe and again. But the two recent trips, (home from purchasing the car, Sacramento to Acton ), the SEC averaged 19 mpg without the air, and the Cruise at 82mph. And on the Diesel Drive trip it did the same. But around town 13Mpg is about the best I have clocked. So she gets to be my weekend or out to dinner car.

Every thing I own is Diesel, except the chain saws & weed eater. getting where I can`t afford to operate them, and Iam not going to use a hand saw and whip weeds by hand.

Diesel is $4.49 now @ the local rag head and the cheapest yesterday was $4.37. I think eventually gas will be equal toDiesel and may even surpass it. remember just a couple years ago when Diesel was 15 to 25¢ less.

To get rid the MB just to have something cheaper to drive wouldn`t be worth it if I would have to start making payments, higher insurance and a higher registration fee.

I see these people commuting from Santa Cruz over the hill to San Jose and other parts of the silicone valley every day, I don`t know they can afford it, plus most of them are stuck with these SUV`s making payments they can`t get out of because they owe more than the vehicle is worth and value is dropping every day. I guess it`s call being upside down.
They all drive like the fuel is free, don`t see many of them slowing down. Iam starting to drive like a lil old man , HMMM, maybe I are one.

The sad part about all this is there will be many more MB`s in the PNP`s.

Charlie ☺
