I think you can view the cars for free. You only have to pay to enter your car or to get lunch.

In looking at the web page I get the impression that the $15 part of the fee is ONLY if you want lunch - the $5 fee is for putting your car into the the show. The way it is written it sounds like you can do one without doing the other.

I also get the impression that the August 3 deadline is all about registering for the lucheon - since they specifically state that the deadline is because of the advance notice they need to give the caterers.

I'm betting that if you aren't interested in the lunch you can still get your car into the show even though the deadline has passed - and you may still be able to register your car for the show right up to the actual day of the event.

I notice they aren't answering their phone...

EDIT: WOW, I just realized that this event is THIS weekend for some reaon I was thinking it was next month. That pretty well rips it. There's no way I can fully detail mine out by Sunday, so I'm going to pass on entering it in the Show & Shine. I'll still go to the GTG on Saturday, though. Probably just as well - mine has a few too many paint chips and other flaws to really "fit in" at the S&S part of the event anyway...

It says that email is the best way to get a hold of them on their phone message.

Here is the reply I got:

Quote:
We're glad you can make it! We have you on the list to show your car and purchase 2 lunches. If you would like, you can pay the day of the show ($35). Can you let us know what type of car you will be showing? Also, do you know if the other people you are traveling with have already registered? There's no problem including their cars in the show, but we need to provide a headcount for lunches right away and can't guarantee availability unless I hear from them by Wednesday morning at the very latest.
Lunch = $15, Car Display fee = $5

Anybody want to teach a injection timing tech session?

I would - if I had ever done it and had the tools! I'll still volunteer my car for having the timing checked/set though! I'm already planning on going there early to park it and let it cool off for a valve adjustment...

If nobody volunteers I'll bring along a drip tube and we can all learn how to do it at once!

Hmmn, I guess that will work. Let's be sure we mark the exact location of the pump really well first though - just in case we have problems getting it "right on the money".

BTW, what I'm wanting to do is advance mine a couple of degrees farther than "spec" - since I'm running a 40%-50% veg oil blend, and the general consensus seems to be that about 4 degrees advanced is the "optimal" setting for straight veg oil. I don't want to go the full 4 degrees though since I'm running D2 part of the time. I figure 2 degrees is about the best compromise...

Anybody with veg oil experience disagree with that idea?

Well, I emailed them to try and register. I said that I didn't want to buy lunch if it was possible. We shall see if they go for it.

Anybody know of a campground near by? I don't want to have to shell out another $100 for a hotel

I really hope that the weatherman is wrong with the long term forecast! I am planning on driving down for the day just for the tech session.

Cloudy is OK with me.

Any volunteers to teach a few OM60X sessions?

The Portland/Seattle Convoy will be meeting at Officer’s Row in Vancouver at 7:45 and departing at 8:00 on Saturday to the get together.

Take the Mill Plain Blvd exit off of I-5 and go east on Mill Plain. Take a right of Fort Vancouver Way, go around the round-a-bout 270 degrees and head East on Evergreen Blvd. There will be parking off the road on the left where we will meet.

Well, the guy from the web site just called me back and talked me into the show & shine. He says that it isn't a bunch of snobby Concours car owners, most are just nice daily drivers. He also said he couldn't find where they had a single 300CD registered to show, so I guess I'll have to clean mine up best I can and show up to "represent" the model...

I'm doing the same. Mine's a dirty daily driver but I'm going to clean it up as well as I can in the time left. And mine's only a 240! It'll be nice to have a CD there.

HI ALL; I'll be joining the convoy. I was not sure if I was going to enter the show but it sound like everyone else is so I might as well. Pealing paint and all. As I may be the only W116 SD.
For the Tech on Sat. I'll be bringing A full set of tools along with a glow plug reamer and valve wrenches. I'll have room in the trunk if any one wants a jack and stands just let me know, other wise I'll leave 'em @ home.
Regards

You don't need a tech session for that. Here is how you do it:

That's it!
