Question Parking Brake Shoes Replacement - Surprise

Today I started removing wheels, caliper and rotor to change brake shoes of my 1982 300SD and there was a problem found to continue this task.
According with MB manual (on CD) page 1091 - work 42-0530 there are picture of the rear axle flange with five threaded holes and five more with a bigger diameter through where the new pressure springs and tool remover/inserter will pass to remove old spring and insert new spring.
The problem is that the flange on the car does not have the bigger holes without thread to remove/insert springs. I tried to work using the threaded holes to do this job but the ID diameter of it is smaller than the OD diameter of the spring and tool. I compare my 1984 300SD and it is the same than my 1982. At this point I stopped and start to search for posts on this web site but could not find something similar to help me.
If you have any helpful suggestion please send me because I need to finish my brakes by Sunday 05/04/08.
Thanks

Nyko46
