BERU Glow Plug assembly grease
 

I found this while looking for something else.
“BERU glow plug assembly grease (GFK 01) helps against stucked glow plugs. Simply grease the thread and the shaft of the plugs with it. In addition, it prevents corrosion of the glow plug body and the penetration of moisture.”

I believe Never-Seeze type compounds work fine on Glow Plugs but some people may think otherwise.

I realize this is a very old post but I've been about to tackle replacing some glow plugs and have done way too much reading of late...

I came across this what seems to be contradictory info from Beru themselves, so I thought I'd share. The first part may just be specific to their brand of plugs since they talk about nickle plated threads..

The threads on all BERU glow plugs are nickel-plated. In this way seizing of the glow plug is reliably prevented. Thus, under no circumstances oil or grease the thread!

they say:

BERU recommends: Before installing the glow plug, grease its shaft with BERU special glow plug grease.

To summarize...dont grease threads if they are nickle plated, but grease shaft. OK. Now what happens if you use nickle type antisieze? :P I guess that should be ok on both.

My Thread was started in 2008 so there could have been changes made in how the make their Glow Plugs.

However, some of our Members who have has stuck Glow plugs have said they had Beru Glow Plugs. To me this would tend to indicate that despite any Nickle Plating the threads can still get stuck; of course the threaded area is not the only place they get stuck.

My own thought is to use Never-seeze compound on the threaded area of the Glow Plugs. (I have been told the Silver Colored Never Seeze has Nickle in it; don't know if that is true or not.)

I have never read or had someone tell me that the use of Never Seeze on anything has caused any mechanical or electrical issue at all with the exception the if it gets into the Engine Oil it can mess with an Oil Analysis causing a false reading.

Concerning the Beru Glow Plug Grease no one I have read of has used it but I don't see how putting it on the Threads of a Glow Plug could cause an issue.
Also if that Grease did cause an issue why would they even make it? But, that is a question best answered by Emailing Beru.
