Is $3500 way too much for a nice 85' 300SD?

I found a nice, local 85' 300SD for $3500. The cars PPI checked out OK. (However, the coolant tank was only about 1/2 full, but there were no leaks and the car was running at normal temperature). It has about 161K on it - no rust, but paint is faded. Good interior. The price seems steep to me, but they may be negotiable. Even with a good PPI, no rust, etc, is this way too much for an 85'? Ebay prices seem to vary widely and value guide (NADA), is way high on this car.

Thanks for advice.

Sounds like a fair price if its in nice shape.....my coolant tank runs about 1/4 full, even if I fill it up, within one day its back to 1/4....oddly, it never goes any lower than that, ever. Maybe its a normal thing.

My coolant tank does the same thing, I bring it up to the fill line, the next time I check, it's down where it stays. Has never overheated.
A bit on the high price side, but... make him, or her, an offer.

6 or even 8K is not too much to ask if it's in nice shape.
how many miles? smoke? blow by? transmission performance? interior leather or mbTEX? windows all work? a/c work? R-12 or 134a? rust? look it over in all the corners and inside the trunk for rust and water signs...
