There have been several svo/wvo users who run diesel thrrough their fphe and have reported substantial gains in mpg -

This has been over a long period by respected posters -

Could i be you have a higher pressure in the IP combined with longer opening times on the injectors? this may give rise to more fuel entering the chamber for the same opening period for the injector -
