Transmission 190D Turbo-Non Turbo
New member here and hope someone can help with some transmission trouble. The tranny in my 190D started slipping very badly the other day. I was able to get it home, but had to take it easy and watch on the starts or the transmission would begin slipping. I saw a video being sold on rebuilding a tranny and wonder if this is possible for someone without transmission experience to do? I found a tranny from a 190D turbo and would like to know if anyone knows whether a 722.414 transmission (non-turbo) be replaced with a 722.413 (turbo) transmission?

Before considering rebuilding your tranny, change your fluid and filter first. If that does. not help. run a pressure test on it. If the pressures are within specs, you could have a valve body issue. Which can be corrected without dropping the tranny.

Thanks, I'll do that first.

I'm betting the turbo trans will work. It might shift more harshly, and the torque-converter will likely have a different stall speed, but it should bolt in there fine.

Is it possible the torque converter could be swapped?

When you change your fluid and filter, drain both the pan and torque converter into a clean pan or bucket and the pour the fluid through a coffee filter to check for solids. If you find more than a small amount of fiber ( from clutches and bands) or metal, then you probably do have an internal problem.

Yes, just have it flushed first so that it doesn't carry any contaminants into the "new" transmission.
