'91 350SDL worth $2350?
I'm going to look at a '91 350SDL in a few minutes. 314K. Supposedly very clean but a few small dents. Supposedly had a rebuilt engine. Would that typically mean the rod issue has been resolved? Or would it likely be rebuilt with the same weak parts? Sorry I can't give more info but I would like to get some feedback before I go look if possible.

314K is getting in an area where the vehicle needs a lot of attention. Either the PO's have provided it over the years, or you are going to have to provide it.
Unless the engine can be documented as to what was rebuilt or where it came from, there is no way to put a value on it. It may be good for another 200K and it may be good for another 20K.........it's a crapshoot. If the engine fails due to a bent rod, you'll be into it for another $4-$8K depending on what you choose to do. I wouldn't consider such a vehicle unless it was thoroughly inspected by a mechanic familiar with this model. Personally, even though I have knowledge of the vehicle, I'd probably not purchase an SDL with 314K unless it had exceptional maintenance. |
You can find ones with less milage on them for about that price.
I would stay away from the 3.5 liter no matter what. I have the 3.0 and it is plenty peppy :D |
Thanks for the advice. I'll probably pass on it.

Some call that car a money pit, but with such a high mileage it may very well be a sink hole.
Be careful, they are awfully attractive to look at but very deceptive when it comes to surprises. Vahe 240D 77 350K |
I'd probably buy it if it was nice, but then again I am known to buy Money Pits....like my SD for example......I went over 10k into it a while back. (not including a too-high purchase price) oh well
Its been reliable and fun for 73,000 miles/5 years so far, so I am still happy with it. |
91 is what the last 126? or a 140?
