#1. Yep - a couple of times due to various vacuum leaks
#2. Yep, same times as #1
#3. Sometimes on really cold mornings.
#4. Rear main seal :/
#5. Yes!! It's driving me crazy. Front and rear left-side carpets.
#6. Not broken, just a little wonky. So yeah.
#7. Yeah, had to replace the tranny a while back due to shifting issues.
#8. Never!
#9. Of course.
#10. I guess shocks and axles go under this. Does the cruise control system?
#11. No!

9/11. Not bad. I'm a little confused about #8 though - is that a common issue?

EDIT:

I just noticed these. Another good few common problems.

#12. Hasn't happened to me yet.
#13. Yes!! This also drives me crazy. I'm never sure what my engine is up to.
#14. My right rear window is failing.
#15. Dear God yes. I'm ordering some LEDs soon to fix this though!
#16. No.
#17. Was an issue; I fixed it with some glue and a little bit of my time. The cracks are a lot more annoying since they're harder to fix.
#18. I haven't had any big problems with my AC.

I'm shocked that "cracked dash" isn't on this list. It has to be in the top 20.

#1 - Yes, with everything else, I haven't fixed this one yet.
#2 - Yes, surely related to #1, haven't gottent there yet.
#3 - No, but surprising.
#4 - Well, the pan is damp on the outside, but it doesn't drip.
#5 - No, but I am not sure why not.
#6 - No.
#7 - Manual, replaced all clutch components, seems to be good.
#8 - Fixed.
#9 - Fixed.
#10 - Passenger side done, on to the driver side.
#11 - No, thank goodness.

How about posting a repair link to each of these problems so they can be easily found? Having to weed through many posts to find a fix is quite time consuming.

This thread is like an evil curse. I already experienced problems #7 and #10. But since I posted in August, I've had problems #2, #5, #8 and #9 happen.

#2. Central locking not working. Vacuum leak in "locking" side

#5. Floor wet. Bad windshield seal -- new part on order

#8. Broken Air cleaner mount and/or bracket. Just broke two weeks ago -- part on order

#9. Collapsed engine mounts. Half-collapsed, this is on the "upcoming repairs" list

Please don't mention any other common issues, as my car apparently reads this thread...

#10. Worn out steering/suspension parts. Yes

LOL, I've seen many W123s that suffered from all 11 plus 20 gallons of Bondo. That's what I get for looking at "great condition" 300TDs for $1000 on Craigslist.

My '78 Coupe

Wow I should take a suitable pic of my Coupe and do in-pic captions with callouts to each problem area. I can include the bondo one too, no doubt....

There may be more, as I don't remember seeing "exhaust hanger donuts" on the list. This is a typical repair, and I have replaced all 4 on practically every 'Benz I have owned. I replace 3 with the standard rubber units, and the fourth with one that has a circle of wire rope molded in it. That way, the exhaust system will never drag on the ground (unless the metal hook breaks).
