How much can you tow with a 300TD...

well- seems like it handled this load alright-

http://i42.photobucket.com/albums/e3...%20om617/2.jpg

weighed in at 7880, 5720 after we junked the car.

so that means a 123 300D w/ no-
engine
transmission
rear diff
driveshaft
lights
brakes
and many other parts weighs in at 2160Lbs. a little bit lighter than I thought. glass and interior were pretty much there.

and this was towed w/ the JCWhitney curt hitch. I only had to go 2.5 miles, or I would have gotten a truck. the car handled it without missing a beat.

That's awesome! I'm definitely ordering that hitch from JCW.

well- it wasnt perfect by any means. had a bend to it, and was fairly rusty
I had a post up in parts- no one really wanted anything......I wish I had property to store it, but I sent it off w/ too many good parts.

the problem is I have a 1 car garage that i am tearing down here in a month or so, and therefore I will be having to move everything twice.

and I am now down to only 4 cars to park. 2 mercedes in the driveway and 2 volvo wagons on the street. and the neighbors are not very amused by a car sitting in the driveway getting picked clean.

unfortunately, scrap dropped from $225/T a few days ago to $130/T.

the car road excellent with the load. I am sure glad I scored those accumulators, it could have been rough w/ the bouncemobile.

I hauled about 1,000 lbs of sheet glass in the back of my wagon on dead accumulators. I had to drive pretty slow and I think that load is what caused my rotted SLS lines to leak.

It's amazing how much the accumulators affect the handling.

I love how the SLS keeps that wagon completely level. No better advertisement for it.

I fixed it for ya.

Codifex Maximus 05-03-2012 02:05 AM

Are these rear SLS shocks rebuildable?

t walgamuth 05-03-2012 06:21 AM

The various problems the Sls suffers are pretty well known here. I suggest you start by posting your problems with it and folks will suggest how best to fix them.;)
