300D Reverse band bolt
If I look under the passenger front side of the tranny on a 79 300D, will it be obvious where the reverse band bolt is?
Anyone have pics? I couldn't find one in a search. Is it something that you just adjust from the outside, or is it something you have to pull out to adjust? I can't quite picture what is going on there... going to look at a 300D with no reverse tomorrow. thanks.

Lower front pass side corner on the side of the housing. Something like a 17mm lock nut and the set screw is a 15mm?
I once bought a w115 240D w/ a "bad" transmission. All it needed was the screw turned in a few turns.

there are some pix of it here:

Thanks. Benzcrusher, was that something you were able to do by hand? Did you have to remove anything to get at it? I seem to read different things, some people explaining about shearing off a bolt and getting full of tranny fluid, some saying they just had to turn a screw.

You probably didn't ask me , but on a 240D I bought I could just turn it in by hand (from the top) . On a 300D, its probably harder to get to- probably need to do it by feel.
I am beginning to think these never wear out- just loosen up.
