W123 1979 300D oil leak near fan belts - PeachParts Mercedes-Benz Forum

My 1979 300D is leaking oil from the axel of the cooling fan at the front of the engine. The oil is coating my fan belts and causing them to slip and make noise.

Any idea what is leaking here and how to fix it?

Here is a picture...

Are you positive the source of the leak is from behind the fan? My power steering pump seals were bad and this leak will spray oil over the belts and the fan. Rebuilt the pump and now dry as a bone!

Looks like you need a new fan clutch.
