Angry She has been violated!

Today on the way home a 17 year old kid ran into my SDL.

I was sitting still in a left turn lane when the kid turned left onto the road I was on. I saw him messing with his radio as he drifted over and BAM! hits right behind my front tire on the driver's side. He messed up both doors and the fender. Of course it pulls way left now.

My SDL was very nice. The body was fantastic and it only had 168k on the odometer when this happened. Of course I am sure the insurance company will try and total it.

I just want my car fixed back to the original condition. What do you think? Since I am a neophyte at this I would appreciate any and all help in Getting this taken care of.

How much will the new drivers door cost? How about the fender? Is there anything I should worry about?

probably going to need frame work ( at worst),since you said it was pulling. the rear alignment is probably out as well... I'd get the car appraised.. Even though it has damage. Just clean it up the best you can( hells yes.. detail it, vacuum and detail the interior).. so in case its totaled you get the most for your car. Then buy it back and fix it for less

He actually hit on the tire and bounced along the car. I just looked at the rim and it is all marred up.

How would I fix it for less? Buy the parts at a PNP and have them painted?

i bet you the tierod was damaged and that is why it is going to the left. It is also possible that the lower and upper control arms where bent. PNP is your best bet, just get doors and have them repainted if needed. Also i would hate to do it but you should most likely sue. Not alot of money but to make a point say like 5 grand. Something will come up later and you will have wushed you sued them.

Here are some pictures.

I am not even sure what I would need to fix this. Any thoughts?

new door and front quarter panel, you could do it your self. it looks as if only the middle was damaged and not the door jambs.

I've just added another item to my "when I have kids" list:

When I have kids, and they're old enough to start driving, not only will they be driving something big, old, heavy, and slow, I will remove the radio before they get it. After they drive for a few month, maybe a year with no accidents or tickets, I'll give them the radio back.

Sorry for your violation

That doesn't look so bad though; that is a keeper.

I am not a big fan of government regulation/intervention, but I'm really in favor of "hands-free cell phone" laws and driving. Unfortunately, it's going to take a few more deaths around here to get anything done.

I've had a few close calls with people who were on the phone.

There are people here who cannot walk - _walk_ - and be on the cell phone. I saw a guy walk into a street sign!

Those are completely pointless. I've read the new CA "Hands free" cell law. They do not cover dialing the phone or even text messaging. Yes, thats right, its still legal to text message and drive with a "hands free" law. You can do anything you want with the phone as long as its not up to your ear.

It's easy for women to drive and put on mascara. But I don't think you should try it.
