anyway, good luck on the motor, Whunter is in your kneck of the woods, perhaps he's willing to help ya!

Just a thought, but if it's pouring out blue smoke, be sure to do a compression test BEFORE you pull the head... it could be a turbo seal dumping oil into the motor... then before you pull the head/PC, pull the turbo, or the intake and see if it's full of oil...
It was looked at in a German Auto Shop before we got it and they said it was a cracked piston or rings in one of the cylinders. (They said they did a compression test) I doubt its the head gasket as the oil still looks fine and the coolant doesn't have any in it nor does it burn any....

It sounds exactly like what mine is doing, probably a failed piston or ring (it doesn't really matter which). Do a compression and drop test to find out for sure. Mine is currently showing about 100 psi in the #1 cylinder and the drop test is showing about 80% leakage (almost all blow-by, very little out the intake or exhaust).

At least yours made it to 440k....this one only has 313k....though the way the previous owner maintained it (he had it less than a year) might have done the engine in..... At least the rest of the car is still mint.

I am betting it has a failed ring.....as it feels weak (like a 240) when you try to accelerate. Heck, warmed up it had a hard time getting up our ramps with 3/4 throttle! (LOTS of blue coming out when I did that!) Our other cars effortlessly go up the ramps.

Well, we located a good engine nearby with barely 150k on it, and will be heading out tomorrow evening with our trailer to go get it. Then begins all the fun! Saturday we'll probably spend most of the day on it.

Nice find. Is that radar detector hiding a dash crack? Be honest. . . .

It does have a cracked dash, but they put a dash cap on it. For the radar detector they drilled a hole in the dash to feed the power cable through! Doesn't matter....as its going to stay there. It powers up and is ready when you start the car.

No idea....we haven't taken them off yet to see...one of the front wheels is missing a lug though.... However, all the others have them all....and the previous owner drove it nearly a year the way it is...so its likely not an issue....

They must have spacers because they are not the correct wheels (which may explain the broken lug). Personally, I would go shopping for a set of wheels with the right offset and lose the spacers.

I still like the originals better on that car, and I don't trust spacers. You could probably sell those wheel, buy some nice original wheels and make a little cash.

True, if it turns out that it has spacers then we could sell those wheels/tires and get a good set of 15-hole W126 rims....that would likely turn a profit.

We'll see...

It might not have spacers, if whoever got those wheels bothered to get the right ones.
