AC Issue....
Hey Guys , I have a 300SDL '87 and I was trying to troubleshoot what my father was telling me about the issue he had when trying to fix the A/C....He said he went to recharge the system and when he did...he was putting the charge in on top and he said the charge was coming out of the bottom of the compressor as fast as he could put it into the top...I am pretty sure the compressor works and spins like it should...any ideas or expereince about what this could be?

Front seal on the compressor, or bad seals where the lines connect.

Are you sure? or just a guess?
How hard and how much are these to change? (each option) |
You will need to have the system evacuated after you fix the leak, to remove any air and water. Any air in the system will kill your performance immediately, and water will kill your compressor eventually.
Also replace the dryer (be sure to add oil). Since you have a bad leak, you have to assume that your dryer is no good at all. Some repairs can be done without replacing the dryer, but this is probably not one of them. The above is in addition to whatever else your system needs. |

The thing to do would be to crawl under and look for fresh A/C oil. I had a Nissan do that, turned out to be a hole in the condensor where a rock went through. On my MB the front seal on the compressor was shot, and you could see oil bubbling and dripping out behind the clutch after shutting the car off. |
Do you think by now that I would have any oil left if I have not turned my A/C on? Or if there was a leak?

There is no way to determine how much oil is in the system short of removing it all with a good flushing. |
Is there a flushing product I can hook up to flush out the entire system? Like the guy above was talking about evacuating the entire system....is there a product that I can hook up that will do this?

There is
